Brisbane honours every Survivor

Thank you for joining us at the Queensland Parliament for our 2026 National Survivors’ Day commemoration. We were incredibly pleased with the event and how it was received.

Our photos have now been shared online and you can see them here:

You are welcome to use these images on your social media or in newsletters.

It was a privilege to come together with Survivors, supporters, advocates and community members to recognise the importance of National Survivors’ Day – 10th November 2026 – and to acknowledge the experiences and contributions of Survivors of sexual assault and institutional abuse.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to attend and be part of the afternoon. Your presence helped make the event a meaningful opportunity to come together, listen, reflect and continue the conversation about recognition, support and change.  We hope that you felt that, too.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Margie Nightingale and Corrine McMillian for hosting us, the catering team at Parliament, as well as to our National Survivors’ Day Ambassadors who spoke on the day: the Honourable Professor Hugh Heggie AO PSM, Dr Alison Quigley, & Graeme Simpfendorfer. Thank you.
